SURRENDERED CATS FROM OWNERS: If you have a cat to surrender please see the Other Rescues List below to find help or you can always take them to The Calgary Humane Society. We also encourage you to put up posters at the local vet clinics looking for a new home for your cat. If you are advertising your cat for sale please have it up to date with vaccinations and fixed, you can then charge a fee of at least $100.00 for your cat helping to guarantee it a good home. You can use any of the rescues adoption questionnaires as a base for the questions you should be asking the prospective new owners of your cat. This will help you determine if it is a good fit for your cat. Please do not give your cat away on any website pages as they can easily become snake food or dog fighting bait. Please never just drop your cat in the country thinking a farm would love another cat, chances are your cat will become predator food. The Calgary Humane Society has not euthanized an adoptable cat in many years. We have worked with them over the last 10 years and have found that they do a tremendous job. They are a great choice to help you re-home your pet if you can not find it a new home through other avenues. We wish you all the best and hope you find loving homes or a wonderful rescue to assist with the cats.
HAVE YOU FOUND A CAT OR KITTEN?
Within the Town of Strathmore:
If you find a lost, stray, abandoned cat or kitten in the Town of Strathmore please call the Town Animal Control at 403-934-3133. Please do this right away as we have been told that if a resident feeds and cares for the cat for a week then they consider the cat yours. You should also contact the local veterinary clinics (See our Thank You list for their numbers), and post a picture on facebook if you are able to - many cats have been reunited this way, share it to as many Strathmore groups you can find.
Within the County of Wheatland or City of Calgary:
