Sanctuary Cat

These cats have a permanent home at the Sanctuary.

Jasper

This handsome boy has been with happy cat for many years. He and his buddy Little Blue came to happy cat as a pair. Jasper has always been the more open and loving of the two cats, once he knows you he will climb on your back and rest across your shoulders - and if you met him you would see that this is no easy feat as he is one big cat! He loves to give hugs and head butts

Boris and Natasha

This is a bonded pair of cats (brother and sister) that must stay together, very sweet, quiet and clean cats.

Boris: Inquisitive and likes to think he is the boss of Natasha, but is actually a bit of a "scaredy cat" . He runs and hides when the vaccum comes out, but is always willing to come and say hello to new people and to be patted and is very good with children. He has been known to stare at the TV or carpet for hours (thinking deep thoughts) and loves to be around when you are sitting and reading or watching TV.  He also responds to conversations and has specific sounds when he wants to tell you something. Boris always wants to be found when it is bedtime and carry him to bed, (sometimes finding a new hiding spot).

Natasha: Natasha is very cautious about people and life in general. It takes her some time to warm up to people, but once she trusts, she is very chatty and likes to have her back and tail stroked. She loves eating the bits left from a can of tuna, and is quick to come into the kitchen when she hears the can opener going. She usually defers to Boris, but can stand up for herself when she needs to. Natasha also loves to be around when you are reading or watching TV and usually finds a spot in the sun to sleep. In the winter she always lies right next to the fireplace. Natasha likes to go to bed on her own when you say "bed-time".

Carleton

Carleton is a special boy, he came to us as a cat that was going to be a trap, neuter, release but after seeing the injuries he had (several abscesses and open wounds) we knew he'd be with us for awhile...during recovery he warmed up quickly to our volunteers showing us that he really wanted to be loved.  We had him neutered and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV.  When the FIV test came back a day later - Carleton was found to be FIV positive.  By this point, he had been with us already for some time recovering from his wounds....he loved us and we loved him.  So we made the decision to keep Carleton and do our very best to keep him healthy and happy and despite this little set back.  Carleton is doing awesome.  He is completely healed now and has put on some weight.  He has turned out to be the most affectionate cat, rubbing up on you while you clean his pen.  He constantly wants attention and love.  He loves to be brushed and scratched.  Follows you around like a dog.  He cannot go with other cats though unless they are also FIV positive and he is a bit annoying to the other cats so we suggest he be the only cat.  He can be quite agressive if not given the attention he wants, so we have decided he should remain a Sanctuary cat.  He is doing awesome.

" BUNNIES "

These little guys look like lions and are dwarf sized.  These bunnies were pets that were no longer wanted and the owners attempted to release the bunnies into a field, however they hopped their way back home and amazingly were not injured by predators on the way home.  Someone who knew of the situation rescued the bunnies and they became "Happy Cat" bunnies.  We have had them both spayed & neutered and microchipped.  They are quite cuddly and gentle.  WThese two love their hay and are very easy to care for.  They have settled into the Sanctuary and have made friends with Costello a single male bunny that is also here.

He is doing very good at the Sanctuary and enjoying his new outdoor run.

Smurf and Simpson

These handsome boys have decided to make their stay with us permanent and will be staying with us at the sanctuary. They just love it out there so much and are not tame - they tried out foster homes and were too aggressive with everyone other than the one person they bonded with at our sanctuary, they will have a wonderful time living safely with us.  Well cared for with lot's of love (and treats and a never ending supply of delicious food of course!).

Maverick

Maverick was a young feral cat that came to us in the fall of '08.  He has tamed well and allows the volunteers to pet him and is playful with the volunteers and always enjoys getting treats and rubs.  He is still a bit on the shy side.  He is a large, dark colored swirl tabby - loves to be scratched and loves his canned food.  He lives at the Sanctuary with his brother MacGyver who is also quite shy.

Dellilah is a very chubby, soft and gentle little girl who purrs as soon as you pet her. She has come a long way from when we rescued her as a feral kitten. She has always been very quiet and sweet. She has a little spot of black on the tip of her nose. Delilah has tried a new home but is far too shy and timid, at this time she is a permanent resident at the sanctuary.  She is bonded with Jimmy Page and they enjoy the sun.

Maddie

Maddie was found in 2004 - living outside, and not doing a very good job at it. We believe Maddie was probably someone's pet at one time as she showed some trust towards people...at some point she must have run away or was abandoned and reverted to feral behavior to survice.  Maddie has been with us for many years and has tried several homes. She seems happiest with her crew at the sanctuary and will spend her days with us. She is healthy, happy and doing very well!

Buffy

Loves other dogs cats. Buffy was a very wild cat which was trapped whenshe was pregnant, she gave birth prematurely to 7 kittens due to the stress of being confined indoors, 5 of these kittens did not make it as Buffy had no idea what was going on and these kittens were far too weak to survive. Her 2 remaining kittens were found and hand-raised with a lot of TLC and have since been adopted into loving homes. Buffy is a beautiful, gentle and sweet young cat who is very trusting of her caregiver and extremely affectionate. She is still a tad weary of strangers but is getting better every day.  She is living at the Sanctuary with her friend Nick, she loves her canned food and occasionally lets us give her a back scratch.
